Public Lands Program Roanoke River Watershed Grants
Every one of us lives in a watershed area. Our actions impact the condition of our local watershed and the body of water it surrounds. All too often we fail to recognize the connections between actions in our everyday lives and the health of our watershed.
The Public Lands Program Roanoke River Watershed Grants involve the community in improving the health of the Roanoke River watershed through work projects on public lands. By engaging members of the community in these projects, the Roanoke grants help the public better understand their role and learn that their actions- both positive and negative - have an impact.
In June 2010, the Public Lands Program of the National Environmental Education Foundation announced that grants of $5,000 each have been awarded to community-based nonprofits located in the Roanoke River watershed. These nonprofits made the best case for how funds would engage the community in improving the health of the Roanoke River watershed.
