National Public Lands Day 2009

- Work Projects: Pruning, remove invasive plants, pull weeds, reset Belgium blocks and pick-up debris. Projects will take place at the West Entrance to the Lincoln Memorial

Come and assist the park rangers and maintenance staff to make a significant impact on one of our historical structures, the Watergate Steps. The Watergate Steps were designed to be one of the ceremonial gateways to the memorial core and are located just west of the Lincoln Memorial. This is the view the visitors see as they enter the National Mall and Memorial Parks from the west.
Special Treats: Park rangers will be presenting a history program on the Memorial Bridge, including the interesting past of the “Arts of War” Statues and the Watergate Steps.
Skills: This project is rated between moderate to moderately strenuous.
What to Bring: All volunteers are required to wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, and no open toe shoes.
Under 18 Information: Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian.
