Largest Single-Day Volunteer Effort for Public Lands
with 2,200 Events Planned around the U.S.

Washington, D.C. – More than 175,000 volunteers will paint, plant, mulch and clean thousands of acres of public lands across the U.S. on Saturday, September 27 as part of the largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the United States, National Public Lands Day (NPLD). Volunteers will serve at more than 2,200 sites – at least one in every state, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

Atlanta – On Saturday, September 28, more than 180,000 volunteers nationwide, including founders of the Atlanta-based GreenHouse Foundation, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, Environmental Protection Agency Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe and nearly 400 volunteers at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site (MLK, Jr. NHS), are expected to visit their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests and chip in to help improve these treasured places.

National Environmental Education Foundation Celebrates 20th Anniversary of National Public Lands Day on September 28th

The largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the United States, National Public Lands Day (NPLD), will celebrate 20 years of service on Saturday, September 28th. More than 180,000 volunteers are expected at more than 2,200 sites across the country to take part in this national initiative sponsored by TOYOTA.
