Grand County Public Lands/Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest
1. Upper Colorado River Cleanup (BLM, Kremmling Field Office): Clearing a 15 mile stretch of the Colorado River of garbage, debris and river campsite improvement work. This is a family-friendly event. Participants are encouraged to bring their own boat, PFDs, paddles or contact John Monkouski at 970-724-3040 to reserve a space on another provided boat. Site will accommodate 50 people. Skill rating: Easy to Moderate2. Idlewild Trail System (Grand County, Headwaters Trails Alliance): New trail construction, non-motorized, to increase accessibility and loop capability near Rendezvous subdivision near Winter Park, CO. Project includes: constructing a 50 foot elevated boardwalk and a small bridge, installing drainage structures and routine tread maintenance. This is a family-friendly event that will have some age appropriate activities for younger participants. HTA is asking for 20 to 30 volunteers. Skill rating: Moderate to Difficult3. Colorado River Trail (USFS, Sulphur RD): Constructing 100 yards of trail reroute (non-motorized) to provide angler access along the west shore of the Colorado River below the AA Barn Interpretive Area and provide better drainage and erosion control. Site manager is requesting 20 enthusiastic people to assist with project. Skill rating: Moderate to Difficult4. Blizzard Pass Trail (USFS, Sulphur RD): Construction of two turnpikes on a popular motorized trail in the Stillwater Pass Area near Grand Lake, CO. Project will also include general trail maintenance and drainage structures. Site will accommodate 30 volunteers. Skill rating: Moderate to Difficult5. Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (NPS, Rocky Mountain National Park): Constructing two turnpikes, general trail maintenance, installing water/erosion control measures along a national non-motorized trail between the Onahu and Green Mountain Trailheads. Site will accommodate 35+ volunteers. Skill rating: Moderate to Difficult.
