Carson Valley Trails Association
Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) was formed after local residents of the Carson Valley noticed the loss of open space and trails to development. Since its creation in 1994, CVTA has partnered with federal and local government agencies to ensure the protection and creation of trails throughout the region. CVTA is committed to providing neighborhoods in Carson Valley with accessible trails that connect people to the outdoors and recreation.
Carson Valley Trails Association was awarded a 2011 Every Day Grant:
Project Summary: CVTA's board and membership is expanding. Currently there is no orientation or mentoring system in place to train new officers, board members or volunteers. Because the organization has no paid director or staff, there is a need to discover and effectively utilize the skills and experiences of current and future board members and volunteers.
In order to operate more effectively and efficiently, CVTA will work with local consultants to give board members and volunteers the opportunity to participate in leadership development training workshops, designed to educate them about the history, vision and goals of the organization, as well as specific skills areas. Workshops will focus on skill areas such as fundraising, board development, partnership building and community outreach.
