Discover Your Northwest

Discover Your Northwest has a broad vision - to encourage residents and visitors of the Northwestern U.S. to visit, support and learn about their public lands. While many friends groups focus on one particular park or green space, Discover Your Northwest wants to ensure the long-term health and usage of public lands throughout the Northwest through a range of programs and educational materials.

Discover Your Northwest was awarded a 2011 Every Day Grant:

Project Summary: Discover Your Northwest will use grant funds to hire a consultant to facilitate strategic planning to determine a three year plan for their branch operations in Deschutes National Forest.  The process to design the plan will be accomplished in two phases. In the first phase, Discover Your Northwest will research and assess their current situation and status within the community. They will seek stakeholder input through interviews and surveys to ensure that they are engaging and meeting the needs of local communities and to identify critical service gaps.

In phase two of the process, Discover Your Northwest will hold a staff wide retreat to develop a strategic plan. The plan will be used to guide the organization towards continued growth based on the shared vision of stakeholders, community partners and Deschutes National Forest managers.
